Neurofeedback for Trauma Recovery
Trauma leaves an imprint—not just emotionally, but neurologically. If you’ve experienced trauma, your brain’s natural regulation systems may become disrupted, leading to anxiety, hypervigilance, emotional numbness, or chronic stress. Neurofeedback therapy offers a scientifically backed, non-invasive way to help the brain regain balance and resilience.
What Is Neurofeedback?
Neurofeedback, also known as EEG biofeedback, is a form of brain training that uses real-time monitoring of brain activity to help individuals self-regulate and optimize brain function. Sensors are placed on the scalp to monitor brainwave patterns, and visual or auditory feedback is provided to encourage healthier brain activity.
Trauma can cause the brain to get "stuck" in survival mode, particularly in fight, flight, or freeze responses. Neurofeedback aims to:

Evidence-Based and Drug-Free
Neurofeedback is based on decades of scientific research. It's popularity is growing in the UK and the NHS is exploring it's use in treating ADHD and Anxiety It is non-invasive, painless and suitable for all ages.
Contact us via www.neurofeedback.scot to book sessions or arrange a call to discuss your interest.
We are also Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) practitioners. We are the first practice in Scotland to integrate DBR with ILF Neurofeedback and have found it to be a powerful combination. Almost all clients can engage with DBR because it minimises overwhelm, clients can experience a speedy recovery, and often only a few sessions are required. If you'd like to find out more about DBR please visit Dr Frank Corrigan's site www.deepbrainreorienting.com or contact the therapists below.
If you're a therapist and would like to learn more about Deep Brain Reorienting or train in DBR please contact Frank at enquiries@deepbrainreorienting.com

B.A., MPH, Dip Gestalt Psych (UKCP Reg), DBR Approved Consultant
I am an accredited Gestalt Psychotherapist, with 20 years experience and full clinical
membership of UKCP. This relational, embodied approach to therapy helps us explore
our early experiences of attachment and relational patterns, where we learn about
connection, love and trust. These patterns can endure throughout our lives, impacting
upon our body, mind and behaviours and creating confusion and paradoxes. It is now
scientifically well established that our brains and physiology are shaped by the
environment we are raised in.
The experience of trauma is not necessarily a single event, but may be repeated relational
experiences that we have grown up with, which impact upon our mind and bodies in
ways that can feel hard to understand or connect up. It can often leave us with a sense
of overwhelm and/or disconnection from ourselves and others.
I work with clients to develop a safe, shared understanding of their lived experience.
When we listen and bring curiosity, we can begin to hear and understand how the story of
our relational histories and traumas are held and expressed through our whole being and
in how we engage with the world. Through working in an embodied, relational way we aim
to restore a safe connection to our selves and our place in the world.
For the past 15 years I have worked both in private practice and within a NHS sexual
trauma service. I am now based at Trauma Psychotherapy Scotland. Over this time I have
developed my learning and exploration of the current research on the neurobiological
impact of trauma, and the most effective ways of healing from these experiences. I have
also been deeply engaged with my own experience of therapy and healing.
I am trained and experienced in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing
(EMDR), the Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM) and Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR)
and have integrated these over the last decade into my work, creating a neuroscience
based and trauma informed approach.
I am a DBR approved consultant, providing DBR therapy, individual and group
consultation.
I have a long history of working in the health service in different roles. After studying
psychology and economics, then public health at masters level, I worked in the NHS as
a public health research specialist, before embarking on my psychotherapy career. I enjoy
creative exploration in different forms, with a particular interest in writing, and also bring
my own learning from the practices of yoga, movement and meditation to my work.
I can be contacted by email at jcassidy02@btopenworld.com
Please contact therapists directly or if you would prefer to use the contact form and Helen or Suzanne will be in touch as soon as possible. We are based at 13 Fitzroy Place, Glasgow G3 7RW.
